If it hadn’t been for Cotton-Eye Joe
I’ld been married long time ago
Where did you come from where did you go
Where did you come from Cotton-Eye Joe
If it hadn’t been…

If it hadn’t been…
If it hadn’t been…

He came to town like a midwinter storm
He rode through the fields so hansome and strong
His eyes was his tools and his smile was his gun
But all he had come for was having some fun

If it hadn’t been…
If it hadn’t been…

Truth be told, it has been a while. It is almost as if new blog posts vanished into the thin air, one might say. But, I’m still here. There has been plenty to do.

No, I have not taken up dancing. My two left feet have been about other things. But, school has started. A busy Fall season is upon us. Who knows what may happen next.

Stay tuned…

It was a good summer. Lots of adventure. Lots of family time. Few lasting complaints. We’ll let the pictures speak for themselves…then…bring on the Fall. Are you ready (for some football?)

Today seems like as good a time to venture back out as any, but I digress (already).

8 months: 240 days.

30 months? 900 days.

25 years? 300 months: it is almost too high to count the days. Suffice to say it’s been too long.

It’s almost a 40 to 1 ratio: days lived since the days lived together. Four young guys, crammed into one little apartment, and I don’t believe any one of us would trade that time for the world.

3 guys from California, and one flyover state guy. One guy who met “the one” at good old OC, and 3 who left the reservation to find their Indian princess. Two accountants, a computer hack, and the man who lit the Reagan Library. Quite a combination, we are, and were.

You would think the bonds formed from a time so short as 8 months would not be so lasting. As we got together last night as a group for the first time in 25 years, you would have thought it was just yesterday. In many ways it feels like it was. If laughter is the best medicine, we should all be pretty healthy this morning.

The time has come for us to send our little ones from the next generation to learn to soar on their own. It does my heart good that the descendants of the men from Room 222 are learning to soar as Eagles. Alma Mater, hail to thee.

So, to Steve, to Big Dave, and to Dr. Wheeler, I say “thanks for the memories”.

Here is to our kids making plenty of their own. They only have 4 short years to do it, give or take. It should be long enough to last them a lifetime…
